Logiball Multi-Range Dual Seal Inflatable Plugs

The safest, fastest & most economical way to perform low pressure air tests on Dual Containment Piping Systems!

DUAL-CONTAINED PIPE SYSTEMS
ANNULAR SPACE TESTING

The concept of developing the Dual Contained Pipe Test Plug comes from many years of installing these systems for contractors and owners of landfill facilities throughout the northeast.

For these systems to be accepted by our regulatory agencies they have to be tested to insure that as a dual-containment system they are 100% effective. Testing of the carrier (inner) pipe was never an issue since there is access to the pipe for flanges or other mechanical terminations. However, providing the means of closing the annulus of a Dual-contained pipe system in preparation for the containment (outer) pipe test of 15 psi can be a safety issue, time consuming and expensive challenge for the contractor or facility maintenance personnel. In the past we have employed the use of elastomeric couplers, expandable links or welded rings to seal off the carrier-containment terminals, followed by drilling and tapping the containment pipe for the pneumatic test. All of which are time consuming, labor intensive and could result in a loss of the test media or inability of achieving the specified psi until they are re-worked to provide a positive seal.

The dual-contained test plug has been designed to SAFELY accommodate an annular space of the varying dimensions created when utilizing a containment pipe of SDR 26 through SDR 11. Deflated, the plug slides easily into the annular space and will inflate to provide a positive seal against the inner and outer pipes regardless of the containment ID. The plug has 3 pneumatic port connections for quick applications. One connection is for the plug inflation, and penetrates only the plug end. The other two ports pass through the plug ends to access the annular space. One for inducing the test media and the other for read back of the rising pressure in the annular space. The plugs all come with quick disconnect leader hoses, monitoring and inflation gages with shut-off valves. All that is needed is an air supply and quick disconnect fittings compatible to the air supply.

Upon completion of the test, the annulus in depressurized, the plug deflated and removed, leaving an open ended DCS for visual monitoring or installation of leak detection systems.

In addition to the acceptance of new pipe installations, these plugs can be useful in the following applications.
  • Documenting the integrity of an existing system prior to and after a new construction project where excavation is adjacent to the existing system.
  • Documenting the integrity of an existing system prior to an extension or tie-in of a branch lateral.
  • Annually or semi-annually documenting the integrity of an existing system located in or adjacent to a high profile area, unstable fill area, or passing through private property.
